Ferrata dei 50

The Ferrata dei 50 is one of the most spectacular itineraries in Friuli as well as one of the longest. It reaches the top of Creton di Culzei at an altitude of 2458 meters above sea level after crossing the crest of the pillar of both the 50 of the Clap and the Lastron di Culzei.

Along the way stretches of solid rock alternate with more friable walls; however, on the whole the equipment can be considered in good condition, if not exactly modern.

It is very important to pay maximum attention during the descent phase, especially in correspondence with a median channel, without equipment and when descending from the Forca dell’Alpino to the basal scree.

It is possible to either go down the older steep trail (although it is potentially dangerous in case of crowding) or take the new equipped  route that takes advantage of the verticality of the right-hand walls. It is much more compact and safe from stone discharges.
